Auf dem bunten Madeira kann es auch monochrom zugehen. Das Casa das Mundas beherbergt ein Kunstmuseum und liegt wie eine Burg ueger dem kleinen Ort Calheta.

Normally Madeira is full of colours. The Casa das Mundas – an art museum – shows you the opposite. It was buildt like a castle near to the village of Calheta.

Bereit fuer ein kleines Wunder? Zwischen Canico de Baixo und Funchal auf der Klippe Ponta do Garajau findet man diese Christus-Statue.

Ready for a miracle? Half the way between Canico de Baixo and Funchal at the Cliff of Ponta do Garajau is the place where one can find this Christ statue.

Ein Besuch auf dem Cabo Girao – leider hat das Wetter nicht wirklich mitgespielt. Vom Aussichtspunkt bis zum Meeresspiegel sind es etwa 580 Meter – eines der hoechsten Steilufer der Welt.

A visit of Cabo Girao – unfortunately the weather was not too good. The cape has a height of 580 meters above sea level – it´s one of the steepest in the world.

Curral das Freiras – das Nonnental. Vom Aussichtspunkt bis zum Talgrund sind es etwa 800 Meter.

Die Levadas ziehen sich durch die Berge Madeiras, um das abfliessende Wasser zu sammeln und fuer die Bewaesserung der Felder nutzbar zu machen. Da diese Kunstbauten mit einem geringen Gefaelle angelegt sind, kann man hier ohne grosses Auf und Ab wandern.

Levadas can be found all over the mountains of Madeira. They collect the water running downhill an bring it to the fields. Nice to walk at these levadas without ups and downs.

Unter der verlaengerten und aus Platzgruenden aufgestaenderten Landebahn findet man einen ausgedehnten Sportbereich – immer schoen im Schatten.
Right under the runway one can find a spacious sports area – always with nice shadow.

Hier ein Blick von der Besucherterasse. Fuer die Technik-Interessierten – Handheld ohne Panoadapter, ich musste um einen Abfalleimer kreisen.
For those interested in pano technique – handheld without pano bracket, I had to walk around a dustbin placed exactly where I wanted to shoot the panorama.

Ein weiterer Blick unter der Rollbahn. Ja, das ist gross. Richtig gross.
